🕳 Disappointment Series — “I Didn’t Expect Everything”

1. I Wasn’t Asking for Much

I didn’t need a grand gesture.
Just a reply. A little honesty. A bit of follow-through.
You said you’d be there.
I believed you.

Now I feel foolish for expecting the bare minimum.
But maybe that’s what hurts the most—
Not that you failed me,
But that I thought you wouldn’t.

2. When Hope Sneaks In Anyway

I told myself not to care.
I told myself not to expect anything.
But hope doesn’t ask for permission.
It shows up quietly—
in texts you overthink,
in plans you imagine before they happen.

And when it all falls flat,
I’m not shocked.
Just quietly crushed.

3. It’s the Small Letdowns That Stick

Sometimes it’s not one big thing.
It’s a dozen little moments.
They said they’d call, and didn’t.
They said “soon,” and meant “never.”
They promised, then forgot.

Each one chips away at your trust.
At your energy.
At your belief that people mean what they say.

4. Disappointment Feels Like Giving Up Inside

It doesn’t make me cry.
It just makes me stop trying.
Stop expecting.
Stop showing up with the same energy I used to.

Not out of bitterness—
but because I’m tired.
Tired of being the only one who seems to care.

5. I Don’t Blame Them. I Just Wish It Had Been Different.

I get it. People forget.
They get busy. They have their own lives.
And maybe I expected too much.
But that doesn’t mean it didn’t sting.

I won’t hold a grudge.
But I won’t forget how it felt, either.
Sometimes disappointment isn’t about what happened—
It’s about what didn’t.
